Mercedes-Benz holds nothing back with its full-sized luxury GL-Class SUV. Subsequently renamed the GLS-Class following its revamp in 2016, the GL-Class comes in massive proportions of 5100 mm by 1955 mm by 1840mm (length x width x height). Early editions, such as the 2006 model year, feature a 5.5L V8 eight-cylinder engine capable of an output of 382 hp. This is joined to a seven-speed automatic transmission and comes in full-time 4WD, with fuel efficiency of 5.9 km/l. For its final run in 2015, the GL-Class features a lineup of the GL 350 with a 3.0L 254 hp V6 six-cylinder BlueTEC turbo diesel engine, the GL 550 and GL 550 AMG with 4.7L 429 hp V8 eight-cylinder BlueDIRECT twin turbo, and the GL 63 AMG that boasts a 5.5L 549 hp V8 twin turbo unit. All 2015 models are mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission and utilize full-time 4WD. Fuel efficiency is estimated at 11.4, 8.1, 8.1 and 7.4 km/l respectively.
