While the iconic bug has gone through multiple makeovers since its birth in 1938, there's no confusing the Beetle for any other. Its most recent generation released in 2011 achieves a modern and dynamic image through the delicate balance of flowing curves and rigid lines. For that model year, the Beetle receives a 1.2L 104 hp inline four-cylinder SOHCIC turbo engine mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission and in an FF layout. Fuel efficiency is an estimated 17.6 km/l. More engine options are available for recent model years of the Beetle, such as the 2018, which gets a 1.2L 104 hp inline four-cylinder SOHC 8 valve IC turbo, a 1.4L 148 hp inline four-cylinder DOHC 16 valve IC turbo, or a 2.0L 208 hp inline four-cylinder DOHC 16 valve IC turbo. All models use an FF layout and a seven-speed automatic transmission except for the 2.0L that comes mated to a six-speed automatic.
