The multiple award winning Toyota Avensis Verso is a stylish minivan aimed at the active family. A rebadge of the 2nd generation Ipsum that was first introduced in 2001 in Japan, the Avensis Verso is available in 2 seating configurations – a seven seater 2-3-2 or a six seater 2-2-2 layout. Powering the minivan is a 2.4L series 4 cylinder DOHC VVT-i (continuous variable valve timing mechanism) unit capable of producing 160hp and 22.5kg m of torque, with FF or active torque control 4WD. The Avensis Verso uses a column type ECT 4 speed automatic transmission. The seven seater has a bench-style second row, while the six seater comes with a captain's chairs.
The Avensis Verso achieves a fuel efficiency of either 11.0 (4WD) or 12.0 km/l, and received the "75% reduction of engine exhaust emissions below emission standards" certification from the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and also won the Best People Mover award in Australia back-to-back in 2002 and 2003.
