First produced between 1969 and 1972, and then revived after 16 years in 1989 up until 2002, the Nissan Skyline GT-R has won accolades and earned a reputation for performance in the East and West.
The revival of the Skyline GT-R in 1989 marked the beginning of its third generation. These Skyline GT-Rs get a 2.6L twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine that gives it an output of 276 hp. This is mated to a 5MT and arrives in full-time 4WD.
For its fourth generation, spanning from 1995 to 1998, a new 2.8L twin-turbocharged engine has been added. This engine is available in the NISMO 400R special edition, producing 400 hp and allowing this edition of the GT-R to reach a top speed of 300 km/h.
For the Skyline GT-R’s final run from 1999 to 2002, the fifth-generation models get the same engines as their predecessors. However, rather than a 5MT, the engine comes mated to a Getrag 233 6MT with fuel efficiency coming in at 8.1 km/l. This generation also receives a 5.8" LCD multifunction display that delivers seven different live readings of engine and vehicle statistics.
