Since its debut in 1969, the Nissan Fairlady Z has been the world's bestselling sports car. The 5th generation Fairlady Z Z33 (released in 2002) comes as either a coupe or open-top roadster, both of which are equipped with a power 280ps/37.0 kgm 3.5L V type five cylinder natural intake engine unit with Variable Valve Timing VVT, and mated with either a 6 speed manual transmission, or 5 speed AT with manual mode. All models of the Fairlady Z are FR driven, and achieve fuel efficiencies from 9.0-9.7 km/l. Released in 2008, the 6th and most current generation Z34 has seen several changes such as a change in body dimensions to make it shorter and wider, the adoption of a front midship layout to shift the engine close to the center and seating further back, and the use of a 3.7L VVEL 336ps/37.2 kgm engine.
The Fairlady Z uses the Z-style round meters in its meter panel, with a drive computer, oil pressure gauge and voltmeter designed in line Z tradition and installed in the upper portion of the center console. For safety features, the latest generation of Fairlady Zs come with VDC Vehicle Dynamic Control, side and curtain airbags, and active headrests as standard.
