The Mitsubishi Galant is a mid-sized sedan designed for passenger use anywhere in the world. It began its run in 1969 as a compact sedan, but grew in size over the years, even featuring a five-door station wagon in its lineup.
The year 1987 was special for the Galant, with the birth of its sixth generation that won the Car of the Year Japan award, as well as being one of the first passenger vehicles to receive Dynamic ECS adaptive air suspension. This generation features a selection of engines, including a 2.0L 217 hp inline four-cylinder DOHC, 1.8L 133 hp inline four-cylinder DOHC, 1.8L 84 hp inline four-cylinder, 1.6L 78 hp inline four-cylinder, and 1.8L 75 hp inline four-cylinder turbo diesel. Full-time 4WD is available for the 1.8L inline four-cylinder and the 2.0L DOHC engines.
Beginning in 1992, the seventh generation receives the addition of a five-door liftback to its lineup. Besides the addition of engines like a 2.0L V6 and its twin turbo version, the seventh generation also get a four-wheel multi-link suspension, becoming the first FF car in the world to come with one.
