2009 TOYOTA Prius
Since its release in 1997, more than 1.25 million units of the Toyota Prius have been sold in over 40 countries (as of 2009). And it's no wonder why - the 3rd generation 2009 Toyota Prius hybrid car receives the baton of its predecessors, and tops its category with an astonishing fuel efficiency of 38.0km/l as well as its excellent driving performance. The Prius is able to achieve this through its hybrid system comprising of a 99 hp 1.8L inline four-cylinder gasoline engine and 82 hp motor, producing the equivalent of 136 hp. In addition to its standard cruising mode, the Prius also features 3 other drive modes to suit current needs and conditions and provide the optimum driving experience- Eco Drive Mode, Power Mode, and 'engine only' silent EV Drive Mode.
Trims within the Prius lineup include the audio system-less basic L, the S with CD +AM/FM audio, and the top tier G that comes with cruise control and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Prius uses a FF configuration and is mated with Continuous Variable Transmission.
