The Move is Daihatsu's quintessential light minivan. Since it was first launched in 1995 as Daihatsu's first "spacious mini vehicle," it has won favor with all groups of consumers and cemented itself in the manufacturer’s core lineup. In its 2005 model year, the Move comes in a sporty Custom series, in addition to its regular series, equipped with four-light headlamps and aero bumper for an impactful exterior. Three 660cc engine options for this model year come as a 58 hp inline three-cylinder DOHC, a 64 hp inline three-cylinder DOHC turbo, or a 64 hp inline four-cylinder DOHC turbo. The 2005 Move drive system come in either FF or fulltime 4WD, while the transmission is a column style four-speed automatic, CVT, or five-speed manual.
The newer 2019 Move gets either a 52 hp water-cooled inline three-cylinder 12-valve DOHC engine or a 64 hp water-cooled inline three-cylinder 12-valve DOHC intercooler turbo engine. Compared to its predecessors, this edition of the Move sees a dramatic improvement in fuel efficiency, clocking in from around 25.6 km/l for the turbo engine models to 31.0 km/l for the regular engine models.
