Hailed for its excellent handling and performance, there's no going wrong with making the Honda Integra your daily commuter. The Integra was first produced from 1985 to 2006, and then revived with a fifth generation in 2021. The first three generations come primarily as a three-door liftback coupe although four-door sedan, four-door pillared hardtop sedan, and five-door liftback bodies are also available depending on the model year.
The 1989 Integra, part of the second generation, receives one of three 1.6L inline four-cylinder engines: Honda's first VTEC + PGM FI (Programmed Fuel Injection) DOHC for 158 hp, a hyper 16-valve + PGM FI for 118 hp, and a hyper 16-valve + dual carburetor for 104 hp. These engines are mated to either a 4AT or 5MT. For the 1991 model year, a 1.8L inline four-cylinder DOHC 16-valve that makes 138 hp has been added to the line-up in the four-door hardtop trim, the ESi.
Following this in 1993, with the start of the third generation, the Integra gets an additional 1.8L DOHC VTEC option with an output of 178 hp. In the final generation (2001-2006) before its 16-year hiatus, the Integra comes with a 2.0L inline four-cylinder i-VTEC engine that combines the VTEC with VTC. In the iS trim, this provides an output of 158 hp, while in the Type R trim, the engine is capable of 217 hp.
