About AUDI Allroad Quattro

Audi combines elegance, dynamism, and utility with a touch of off-road capability in their sporty wagon, the Allroad Quattro. Depending on the model year, the Allroad Quattro can be available in two sizes - it was originally a semi-offroad version of the A6 Avant executive wagon but, since 2009, has also been offered in a smaller version based on the A4 Avant compact wagon. As with all Audi vehicles, the Allroad Quattro receives robust engines and a good range of luxurious features and equipment, but also added these off-road and off-road inspired features such as their four-wheel-drive system, Quattro, adjustable air suspension, and body claddings. To find out more about Allroad Quattro, keep reading.

Origin

The second generation of the A6 Avant wagon was the base from which the Allroad Quattro was developed. With the Allroad Quattro, Audi wanted to create a wagon with semi-roading capabilities. In addition to equipping the Allroad Quattro with their Quattro permanent four-wheel drive as standard, Audi also made several key changes that increased the height of the Allroad Quattro over the standard A6.

First Generation: C5 (Typ 4B, 1999-2004)

The first generation C5 Allroad Quattro was the A6 Avant Wagon with a number of off-road upgrades. For starters, Audi's Torsen-based quattro permanent four-wheel-drive system was standard on all the versions of the Allroad Quattro. The Allroad Quattro was also afforded a greater ride height thanks to subframe spacers that raised its height by 25 mm and the addition of an advanced air suspension system that could lift the Allroad Quattro high enough to give it 8 inches of ground clearance. Other changes for the C5 Allroad Quattro were flared bumpers and fenders with a matte finish, overall increased frame stiffness, and larger all-terrain tires.

The C5 Quattro features a 2.7 L biturbo V6 petrol engine, which delivers an impressive 247 horsepower, providing a spirited driving experience with smooth acceleration. The vehicle also has a robust 4.2 L V8 petrol engine that offers enhanced performance and thrilling sound.

On the diesel front, the C5 Quattro includes a 2.5 L TDI V6 diesel engine capable of generating 177 horsepower, known for its reliable performance.

Second Generation: C6 (Typ 4F, 2006-2011)

Released in 2006, the second generation was called the Audi A6 Allroad Quattro. Like the outgoing version, the second generation came with the Quattro four-wheel-drive, air suspension system, and other offroad-inspired design features such as larger bumpers and sills.

The C6 offered a 3.2 L V6 engine, known for its balanced performance and fuel efficiency, alongside a powerful 4.2 L petrol engine that provided enhanced power and responsiveness for a more dynamic driving experience. Additionally, the C6 was equipped with two diesel engine options: a 2.7 L V6 TDI and a 3.0 L V6 TDI diesel engine that offered even greater power for those seeking higher performance and towing capacity.

Third Generation: C7 (Typ 4G, 2011-2018)

For the Allroad Quattro's third generation, Audi differentiated it even further from the base A6 model as a true all-road model with Allroad-specific parts. These included special tough bumpers and fender flares with matte finishing. New and unique were bumpers with integrated aluminum skid plates, headlights, and larger side mirrors. The Allroad Quattro's air suspension allowed the ground clearance to be adjusted. The air suspension allowed for a sporty drive when lowered, and the spring and damper rates were stiffened.

The vehicles were equipped with a 3.0 L engine, which is designated as V6 FSI, alongside several models featuring TDI (Turbocharged Direct Injection) engines. These TDI engines are known for their fuel efficiency and torque.

Fourth Generation: C8 (Typ 4K, 2018-present)

The most recent generation of Allroad Quattros was released in 2018 and came in several colors, including Gavial Green, Glacier White, and Soho Brown. Besides the advanced suspension, the fourth generation Allroad Quattro received features such as exclusively designed 19-inch wheels, leather or Alcantara-upholstered black sport seats, aluminum inlays, and illuminated door sill trims.

The fourth generation of the vehicle included a new 3.0 L TDI V6 mild hybrid engine, which combines the efficiency of diesel power with an electric motor.

Engine Performance & Technology

Many of the Allroad Quattro's engines feature Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI) or its turbo version, TFSI. Audi's TFSI engines combine turbocharging and direct fuel injection, directly injecting fuel into the combustion chambers, enhancing performance and efficiency. The diesel equivalent, TDI, is also found in their diesel engines. In addition, the Allroad Quattro engines from 2012 onwards feature the Start-Stop system that helps save on fuel by turning off the engine when it detects the car has come to a stop and restarting it when the throttle is pressed.

Safety & Reliability

The Allroad Quattro has, time and time again, proven to be a safe and reliable vehicle. Safety features such as ABS, stability, traction control, and dual front, front knee, and rear side airbags come as standard on the Allroad Quattro. Across all generations, the Allroad Quattro also gets advanced safety tech (for its era). More recently, the 2023 model year gets forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, parking sensors, and a surround-view camera.

Trim Configurations

Newer versions of the Allroad Quattro are available in one of two trims--the base Premium Plus and the Prestige. For the 2023 version, upgrading to the Prestige makes features like quad-zone climate control, power lumbar and power-adjustability for the front passenger seat, adaptive cruise control, heated rear seats, HD Matrix headlights, Cross Traffic Alert, and Blind Spot Monitor standard. Night Vision is also available as an option only on the Prestige and only in certain markets. The Prestige can also be upgraded with a luxury package that swaps the front seats for individual contour seats with built-in massage functions and covers all the seating surfaces with Valocona/Milano leather.

Conclusion

Need a vehicle that's swift, practical, comfortable, and off-road ready? Choose Audi's Allroad Quattro. You'll find multiple versions of the Allroad Quattro in good condition and at hard-to-beat prices here at BE FORWARD.
