The Volkswagen Golf GTI since its birth in the 1st generation during 1970s has been categorized as a most-loved sporty range of Golf series. 2.0-Liter in-line-four DOHC (double overhead cam) 16-valve Turbo with intercooler charged direct-injection TSI engine (GH-1KAXX) generates 200ps・28.6kgm. The transmission is 6-speed DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) giving sporty manual-like shifting with automatic comfortability. Safety devices are 8 airbags including rear sheet side and curtain airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution), EDS (Electronic Differential Lock System which controls the difference in rotation of wheels on right and left) and ESP (Electronic Stability Program).
The Volkswagen 'Golf' has continued to develop as a real sports model with a 2L direct injection turbo TSI engine and transmission that is combined with a wet 6-speed DSG that also contributes to improving fuel economy. More recent models have adopted Volkswagen's new modular system "MQB", with a lighter weight of 10 kg. These models have also adopted many types of safety equipment and functional equipment which was previously available only for advanced models. Improvement was also made to the engine, and the maximum torque was generated from 350 rpm. These achieve JC 08 mode fuel economy of 15.9 km / L.
