The Tiguan is Volkswagen's first compact SUV, achieving an approach angle of an incredible 28 degrees through its front bumper and underguard on its easily maneuverable 4460 mm long body, and comes in either full time 4WD or FF drive (available only from 2011 models onward).

On the safety front, in addition to the newest accident prevention ABS and ESP systems, a total of 8 airbags (inclusive of front and rear curtain and side airbags) have been installed across all models, providing its passengers with the maximum level of protection. Finally, an alarm triggered by detecting unusual steering patterns caused by loss of concentration help to steer the driver away from dozing off at the wheel. The 4WD models are equipped with the 4MOTION system that boasts exemplary handling capabilities be it on snow-covered roads, or highways in torrential rain.
