The legendary Mitsubishi Shogun means business. Known in the domestic Japanese market as the Pajero, it is powered by either a 3L (178ps/5250rpm 26.6k and m/4000rpm) or 3.8L (252ps/6000rpm 34.5kg and m/2750rpm) 6 cylinder gasoline engine, or an exhaust-emissions regulation compatible 3.2L (190ps/3500rpm 45.0kg and m/2000rpm) series 4 cylinder DOHC common rail diesel unit (DI-D) mounted on its sturdy ladder frame monocoque body. All models of the Shogun use a Super Select 4WD II system capable of smooth switching while driving. The Shogun achieves a fuel efficiency of 8.0-10.4 km/l depending on the set up.
In the 5 door 7 seater line-up are the top-grade Super Exceed, the Exceed, and the GR, while the 3 door 5 seater short body models are the VR-II and VR-I. The Shogun uses an INVECS-II Sports Mode 5 speed AT, with the basic models GR and VR-I also available with 5 speed manual transmission. In its interior, the sleek designed front and back seats of the Shogun are made from suede, with double stitching used for the seams of the front seats. On top of the Active Stability and Traction Control and brake assist installed as standard, the hood of the Shogun uses a shock-absorbing construction that meets MLIT's pedestrian cranial protection standards, and not to mention raises the level of safety. Finally, the Shogun also features the Mitsubishi Multi Communication System (MMCS) with audio and navigation system and Rockford Acoustic Design premium sound system.
