About VOLVO WAGON

Once upon a time, Volvo station wagons had earned a reputation for prioritizing safety and utility over everything else. One look at their older wagons, and you'll understand why--throughout the 70s, 80s, and 90s, their designs were characterized by a strict boxiness that almost spoke to the brand's conviction in form over function. Today's Volvo wagons, however, come with smoother lines, in addition to everything that made their wagons great. They are functional and safe without sacrificing in the looks department, and compared to much of their continental competition, they are affordable vehicles. Keep reading to learn more about Volvo's wagons and how to purchase them.

Why Buy a Volvo Wagon?

As a vehicle's body style, wagons have more trunk room than sedans and offer better handling and easier loading and unloading than SUVs. If you're looking for a style of vehicle that combines car-like drivability with SUV-level utility, you'll want to go for a wagon.

Besides all the benefits of the wagon vehicle body style, Volvo's wagons are also well-styled. Volvo's Scandinavian design heritage inspires Volvo's wagon exteriors, which are understated yet expressive, striking the right balance between elegance, luxury, and practicality. On the inside, their wagons are comfortable, with a good amount of legroom and headroom to relax, and they have ergonomic seats made of premium materials. Finally, as with all Volvo vehicles, their wagons are well-protected by a good range of safety equipment. The safety equipment list of the base trim of Volvo wagons can rival more expensive models and the upper trims of other car brands.

What to Consider When Buying a Volvo Wagon

Seating

Most Volvo wagons can seat up to five adult passengers, with larger models usually offering great head and legroom for an even more comfortable ride.

Safety Features

Do you require specific safety features, such as lane departure warning? It's important to note that certain safety features and technologies you might be interested in could be limited to certain trims, models, and model years due to variations in available options.

Cargo and Towing

Wagons offer more cargo space than sedans. The V70's cargo, for example, measures 575 liters and around 1,640 liters with the rear seats folded down. If you need a wagon capable of towing, the V90 has a braked towing capacity of 1,580 kg in its maxed-out off-road and towing configuration.

Engines and Fuel-economy

When considering cost savings, wagons are a more economical option than most SUVs as they have better fuel efficiency. You'll also want to consider the wagon's engine type--usually, there's a trade-off between size and fuel economy.

Style

Wagons feature a lower profile than SUVs and a squared or rounded-off rear. Volvo wagons are elegant and luxurious without being ostentatious.
