Since its release in 1970, the Isuzu Forward has been the face of Isuzu's truck manufacturing division. As a medium-sized truck, it houses one of several different diesel engine sizes- 5200cc, 5800cc, 6500cc, 7200cc, 7800cc, or 8200cc. The standard Forward uses a 6 speed manual transmission, but 4AT is also available as an option. Depending on the class and version of the Forward, the maximum loading capacity varies from 8 to 11 tons. The cargo of the Forward comes in several different styles to perform various functions such as dry and temperature adjustable containers for secure transport of cargo and perishables, open cargo space that provides more flexibility in the size and types of loads, and a tippable dump-style open-box bed. As testament to its versatility, the Isuzu Forward has been customized into various vehicles like fire-engines.
The more recent versions of the Forward come with safety features such as speed limiters, permanent magnet retarders for smooth braking assistance, air-controlled wheel parking capable of maintaining a high braking force, as well as idling-stop-start system available as an option.
