A reliable head-turner, the 4Runner is Toyota's stylish and rugged SUV with a long history and an equally large following. It was first released in Japan in 1989 as the Hylux Surf while bearing the '4Runner' tag in overseas markets until the release of its 5th generation in 2009, whereupon its stylings returned to its more boxy truck roots. The latest generation of the 4Runner measures a manageable 4,820mm by 1,925mm by 1,780mm, featuring either a 2.7L 161hp 250nm 2TR-FE inline-four or a 4L 270hp 370nm 1GR-FE V6 engine. In the lineup of 4Runner are the classic SR5, Trail, TRD Pro, TRD Off-Road, and Limited. Apart from the inline 4 model in 2010 that could be paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, all models receive a five-speed automatic. The 4Runner uses a double wishbone at the front, and a 4 link suspension at the rear.
