Inspired by the F-16 fighter jet and then going on to serve as inspiration for the McLaren F1, the Honda NSX midship coupe is a marvel of sports car design and engineering.
First launched in 1990, the NSX features an all-aluminum body with a 3.0L 276 hp V6 six-cylinder VTEC engine mated to either a 5MT or 4AT. Beginning with the 1997 model trims, an additional engine is available, upgraded to 3.2L and mated to a 6MT. There is marked improvement in fuel efficiency when comparing earlier first-generation models that provide 7.1-8.3 km/l, to later years like the 2004 trim, with 8.4-9.0 km/l.
Following a hiatus of more than a decade, the second generation was released in 2016 with a space frame-designed body made up of lightweight and rigid materials like aluminum. This NSX gets the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive drivetrain that is made up of a hybrid electric powertrain comprising a 3.5L twin-turbocharged V6 six-cylinder engine and three electric motors for 573 hp and a 9AT. Fuel efficiency clocks in at 12.4 km/l.
