The Mazda Bongo Truck is an everyday truck and variant of the Mazda Bongo Van. The truck is available with a 1.8-Liter in-line-four DOHC (Double overhead cam), 102 ps gasoline, 2WD (rear wheel drive) with a 850kg loading capacity and manual transmission. The SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) Airbag is used as a safety measure for all models. There are many optional parts to make this commercial truck more useful for business as well.
The current 4th generation of the Mazda Bongo Truck came with changes to the forward chassis, placing an emphasis on collision safety. Both the interior and exterior were refurbished for a fresher look. In terms of the interior, the automatic vehicles were given more foot space and more storage was added in the instrument panel as well as in the doors in an effort to maximize storage capacity.
The same options from previous generations were carried over from the previous generation for the Bongo truck's transmission and drive train. For example, the 5-speed manual was combined with the FR or 4WD, and for certain grades with the 4-speed automatic transmission. At the end of 2003, the Bongo truck diesel engine was updated to the 1,998cc with 86 horsepower while the gasoline engine was upgraded to 95 horsepower. Available engine options include a 1,789cc petrol engine providing 90 horsepower, and a 2,184cc diesel engine offering 79 horsepower. The Mazda Bongo is a solid workhorse for different types of industries requiring light cargo transportation around town.
